Hi, I've been using MS Office for Mac 2011 and have just installed MS Office for Mac 2021 (having first updated my Mac operating system).. How can I transfer either my Office 2011 identity to Office 2021, or import an OLM? Neither option seems to exist in Office 2021...

Microsoft notes in the same memorandum that Office for Mac 2011 "have not been tested" and "no formal support for this configuration will be provided." Office for Mac 2011 will also cease all support from Microsoft on October 10, 2017 and no further updates in any form will be provided after that date.

The latest Office for Mac 2011 from April, version 14.7.3, was examined, and was found to be in a worse state following the High Sierra update. Crashing was even more frequent than in the Office for Mac 2016, not even accounting for a number of other user interface oddities spanning the entire suite. A standard troubleshooting step for Microsoft Office applications is to uninstall and reinstall the suite. Neither the 2011 nor the 2016 versions were any better after a complete delete and reinstall.

Both the 2011 and 2016 versions of Office were usable prior to the High Sierra update. AppleInsider's testing found the 2016 suite to to be functional for the cautious under 15.34, and 2011 to be not reliable at all under High Sierra.

If you have an Office 365 subscription but your computer can't run Office 2016 (if it's too old), you can use Office in the Cloud. Microsoft says you can go to "portal.office.com. This includes Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, along with Skype and OneDrive for Business.... Otherwise, you will have to either purchase a new device or continue using the now unsupported Office 2011 for Mac."

Microsoft is apparently planning an update to Office for Mac 2011 next week, according to The Loop. The update will be in the form of a service pack (SP1) and contains some bug fixes and a new functionality.

If you are using Office 2011 for Mac, chances are you might find out that Office for Mac is blurry on Retina Display for apps like PowerPoint, Word and others. While some users might suggest increasing the resolution of your MacBook Pro and setting the zoom in Office applications to 200%, this will only make the blur screen less obvious. Which means that you might still find PowerPoint blurry on Retina Displays, as well as other Office apps. A better alternative is to opt for a simple fix that can be applied by installing a simple update from Microsoft.

To install this update, Mac users using a Retina MacBook Pro should go to the following link to Download Microsoft Office 2011 Update. Alternatively, users can run the Auto Update from a Microsoft Office application.

I know it's possible to have MS Word 2011 update all fields before printing a document but I would like to be able to update the fields whenever I feel the need to. Is there a keyboard short cut for this for MS Word 2011 on Mac OS X?
